Will my bookmaker accounts get restricted?

Honestly, yes. Account restrictions are a normal part of matched betting and something every member will experience at some point. Some bookmakers are more aggressive than others and will restrict accounts quickly regardless of what you do. Most members will have had at least one restriction within their first two months.

The good news is that restrictions are not the end of the road. There are over 100 bookmakers in Australia, so there are always fresh accounts to open. And there are things you can do to slow the process down and get more value out of each account before restrictions kick in.

The most effective strategy is mug betting, which means placing occasional bets that look like normal punter behaviour. This is especially important in the early days of a new account. Building a natural-looking betting history before using an account heavily for matched betting makes a significant difference to how long it stays unrestricted.

For a full breakdown of how to protect your accounts and extend their useful life, our Account Sustainability course covers everything you need to know.

When an account does eventually get restricted, it does not have to go to waste. Strategies like value betting, arbitrage, and middles can all be used to keep extracting profit from restricted accounts. These are covered in depth on our Pro tier.
